6/5 > 19/5 2017 ‘Space of Places’ – “Espai de Llocs” – El Konvent – Cal Rosal (Berguedà), (Barcelona).

Espai de llocs is an exhibition proposal that aims to show a wide view of the construction of the territory, the environment, the space and the location.
Project ‘Abandoned?’ was invited to participate in ‘Espai de Llocs’ (Space of Places) from 6th-28th May 2017. Julia Clay and Geppe Monrós showed their photographic work in one wing of the convent, which had once been the children’s dormitories.
Their film called ‘Abandoned?’ was screened and a debate held on the reuse of buildings, especially industrial colonies in the area of the Llobregat river.
The Konvent is set in an abandoned, industrial colony near to the city of Berga (Catalonia, Spain). The nuns who lived here fed, educated and housed impoverished, girls from the surrounding area who came to work in the textile factories. After the nuns left in 1992 it was abandoned for a while before being metamorphosed into an art centre offering every kind of cultural activity imaginable. It is the most glorious setting to premier some of our favourite pictures and we were lucky enough to have the whole wing where the girls once slept and lived in which to do so..

10/9 > 10/10 2015 ‘Poblenou Creative Habitat’ – (Poblenou Habitat Creatiu) Contemporary art exhibition, Can Felipa, Barcelona

The Abandoned? Project was asked to participate in this exhibition. Julia showed an animation of her last photographic montage piece called Poblenou Then + Now and Geppe showed two extracts from the documentary film Abandoned: Beauty and the Poblenou chapter. These videos were presented to the public on 3 consecutive Tuesdays.
