I started this film in Barcelona in 1991 as a C.E.C.C (cinema school) exercise called ‘My street’ recording the intervews in Spanish, Catalan and English, but I could’nt finish it then. In 2019, and after someone brought me a bround chilaba I wanted from Chefchouen (Morocco), I shooted the Munk-Nun secuences. then I lern bass guitar to be able to play the music for the film. I had to work a lot fixin and recovering the sound and image from the old video 8 footage.
Alan was my neighbour for a few years in the 80’s in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona as well as my friend, a poet and a teacher. This Alan died a long time ago and we don’t know for shure if the poems a friend found are Alan’s, but we suspect it. In the film we ask seven questions about him to a number of people on my street in the Gotic quarter of Barcelona who knew him. The result will show conflicting views on Alan and the variety of cultures and characters living in this street at that time (late eighties). Finished in 2024.

PREMIERE – ESTRENA – ESTRENO

We premiered “Alan, la monja” (Alan, the nun) in theater on November 25, 2025, with a single screening at the Centre Cívic Pati Llimona in the Gothic Quarter af Barcelona. Just 100 meters from the street where most of the interviews were filmed. Some of the interviewees attended and we had an interesting discussion afterward. We toasted the premiere at the same winery “Bodega La Palma” that appears in the documentary.
